What Is a Smog Inspection?

Most vehicles require a smog inspection every two years for registration renewal. Click Here for a complete list of vehicles that require a smog inspection. A licensed smog station must also inspect a vehicle for a change of ownership.

We perform honest smog inspections within 20-30 minutes and accept appointments or drop-ins. At Smog Check, we conduct basic and enhanced inspections, depending on where your vehicle is currently registered. We can also certify gross polluters, STAR-directed vehicles, diesel, and hybrids.

We offer you our skills and expert knowledge to inspect your car and make the required repairs. Make sure your vehicles satisfy California state regulations. Call us at (831) 462-0355 to make an appointment today.

The Smog Check Process

Our certified mechanics will configure the testing equipment with your vehicle during the smog test. If your car, light truck, or SUV passes the assessment, the vehicle profile and test results are electronically sent to the DMV. We are here to provide you with a copy of the test results and receipt, known as a Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR), for your records.

If we discover that your vehicle needs service, we discuss your options and what we can do to keep you safe on the road. Smog Check provides full-service light duty repairs to get your vehicle to pass inspection.
